How do I book a private lesson?
Private lesson availability changes often; therefore, the only way to book a private lesson is by speaking with an administrator at the swim counter, either over the phone or in person. We will happily go over instructor availability and help you choose the instructor that's right for you.
Once you book a private lesson you lock in that day and time on an instructor's schedule for the calendar month. At the end of your month you have the option of discontinuing the private lessons. A cancellation notice of at least seven days before the start of a new month must be given if discontinuing lessons. Discontinuing lessons also means you forfeit your day and time with that instructor. Our private/semi-private lessons are on a perpetual billing cycle the first of every month; meaning the first of every month your credit card on file will be charged for the number of private lessons in that particular calendar month. Example: If you are taking lessons on Fridays and the next calendar month has five Fridays, you will be charged for all five Fridays. The following month there are only three Fridays, you will be charged for three Fridays.

How much do private lessons cost?
A private swim lesson (1:1 student to teacher ratio) costs $40/lesson. We also conduct semi-private lessons (2:1 student to teacher ratio); semi-privates are ideal for families who have children close in age and skill level or for friends with similar goals. The cost of a semi-private lesson is $55/lesson.
Regardless of whether you decide to take private or semi-private lessons you must register for a calendar month. For example, if you are taking private lessons on Mondays at 4pm you must commit to that day and time for the remainder of that particular month or the entire month of lessons if beginning at start of month. Perpetual billing will be how you are charged for private/semi-private lessons from that point forward which means, the first of every month your credit card on file will be charged for the number of private lessons in that particular calendar month.

Is there a considerable difference in how fast people learn in private lessons vs. group lessons?
Generally speaking, students tend to learn faster when given one-on-one instruction; however, there are many people who enjoy learning with a group of peers and excel in a larger class setting. Make sure you evaluate your needs based on previous learning experiences to determine whether private lessons are right for you. Our swim administrators and instructors will be happy to discuss the matter further with you if you are having trouble deciding which option is most appropriate given your needs and goals.

Can I put both of my children in the same private lesson?
Yes, you may enroll in what we call a semi-private lesson. A semi-private lesson consists of 2 or more individuals sharing an instructor for the duration of their lesson. Semi-private lessons are ideal for family members or friends who are close in age and skill level. If you are interested in booking a semi-private lesson please call the swim counter so we can review availability with you.

What if I decide to switch from group classes to private lessons?
We can remove you from your seasonal group class at any point during the semester and use the remaining credit towards payment for private lessons. There is no penalty for withdrawing from a seasonal group class.
If you are withdrawing altogether from a school year group class you will be charged a withdrawal fee of $50. After the withdrawal fee is applied you may use the remaining credit towards private lessons or any other program you are interested in enrolling in.

What if I need to skip a private lesson?
A $12 administrative fee will be charged for each missed 30 minute private lesson. To qualify for a class credit you must call and cancel before you miss your class. We will partially credit your account with us the cost of your lesson minus the $12 administrative fee. Class credit will be applied to the next month’s automatic debit. Private lesson class credit is non refundable and is valid for up to 6 months from the date issued. Example: Cost of 30 min private lesson ($40), minus administrative fee ($12), equals total credit ($28). If a student is absent from class due to illness, a credit will be issued to your account with us for the full value of the private lesson if a note from the doctor is presented within 7 days of the student’s absence. The note must have the dates that the student was not allowed to participate in class. Credit will not be issued without a note from the doctor. Class credit will be applied to the next month’s automatic debit. Private lesson class credit is non refundable. To qualify for a class credit you must call and cancel before you miss your class. We have a maximum of 2 medical credits (with a doctor’s note) every 6 months per student, per class.

Does the private lesson schedule change every semester?
No! The private lesson schedule changes every season, not every semester.

Can I book a private lesson more than a week in advance?
No, private lessons cannot be scheduled more than a week in advance. The private lesson schedule changes often , since we have no way of knowing whether students will continue with another calendar month of lessons we cannot know an instructor's availability more than a week in advance.
You also cannot hold a space on an instructor's schedule without paying for it. Holding a space on an instructor's schedule without paying for it would mean that the instructor does not get paid for the lessons you are choosing not to attend; and the fact that you are holding on to this time and day means that no one else can sign up for that private lesson. Unless you are willing to pay the administrative fee of $12 for each lesson you are not attending, we recommend registering the week you would like to begin your private lessons.

Can I enroll in both group and private lessons?
Yes, you are more than welcome to enroll in both group and private lessons. You may even attend more than one group and/or private lesson per week. For group lessons you are still obligated to register for the entire semester, and for private lessons you are still obligated to register for a calendar month.
