Bio: I can still remember the swim meet that I broke a minute in the 100 free over 35 years ago. A big milestone in a swimmer’s career. I never dreamed then that I would have the opportunity to be helping young swimmers achieve those same dreams. I come to ASA and the state of Georgia from Minneapolis, MN.
I began swimming at the age of 10 in a small town in Florida and completed my competitive swimming career in the Big Ten at the University of Minnesota where I completed my BS in Sport and Exercise Science and my Masters in Recreation. I have experience coaching all ages and levels of swimmers from the 6-year-old first year swimmer, to Big 10 champions and Olympic Trial qualifiers. I coached at several swim clubs in the Minneapolis area as well as at The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Macalester College and The University of Minnesota.
Prior to moving to Georgia I spent the last 15 years as the Aquatics Program Director for the City of Brooklyn Park, a suburb of Minneapolis. Moving to Georgia allowed me to get back into the competitive swimming field. I am a certified WSI, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Training Instructor and CPO.
My family moved to Georgia in July of 2013. My husband Andy and I have two boys, our oldest just graduated from high school and will be working toward a career in Vet Tech (he also has worked at ASA as a lifeguard/camp counselor) and my youngest is starting high school at Pope High School in the fall of 2017. Our family also includes 2 rescue dogs: Djoser and Odin. They seem to have the swimming gene as well, we can’t keep them out of our pools!
